I used to see you almost every day I waited at the subway station on my commute to work this summer. I haven’t seen you in over a week. You’re tall and wear slinky T-shirts and jeans and a big canvas tote bag. On the occasions we ended up in the same subway car I’d be reading and pretend not to be looking at you. It was always fun seeing you in the morning even though we’d never speak. It was comforting. I wonder where you are now, if you’re still in Bushwick or in the city at all. Maybe you’ll turn up on the platform again.
